On Saturday 2nd May, Liverpool Victoria Rowing Club held an online quiz to get people together, replacing Merseyside Regatta. Thanks to Sam Fairbanks for organising and acting as quiz master. Thanks also to those members who joined in and especially to our guests from Warrington Rowing Club, our umpire friends and Maureen from New Zealand. Alt... More

In the midst of the very difficult conditions imposed on us all by the Coronavirus pandemic, Liverpool Victoria Rowing Club has some very good news at the beginning of April. Newsletter March – Cancellation of Merseyside Regatta – Saturday 2nd May 2020

It is with great regret that Liverpool Victoria Rowing Club announces that Merseyside Regatta, due to be held on Saturday 2nd May 2020, will not now go ahead on that day. Like every other rowing club in the country, we have had to stop all rowing and training activity at the boathouse until the Coronavirus outbreak is over. Club members are continuing to ... More

Head of the Float Saturday 30th November 2019

The club held its annual Head of the Float on Saturday 30th November. Perhaps as a result of many other events in the North West, West Midlands and Yorkshire being cancelled due to river conditions, we had an almost full entry of 91 crews. Apart from North West club entries from Royal Chester, Grosvenor, Hollingworth Lake, Northwich, Trentham and Warrin... More

This is a match to the coxed quad launched in 2016 (that one is named Heather, after Heather Parry who with Alex Sapple has driven the Learn to Row programme for the last few years). The new boat was named Alex, in recognition of all the hard work that he has done, bringing many new ... More

Merseyside Regatta Saturday 4th May 2019

The club held its annual regatta on Saturday 4th May and although entries were down on previous years, a good entry from local clubs and Lancaster Royal Grammar School led to some close racing. Entries have been reduced by a lack of entries by other schools and some clubs in the North West and us ... More

January Update

January is traditionally cold (and as I write this, wet!) and the weather doesn’t make it very pleasant on the water. However, the winter months are crucial to ensuring good performance in the summer. The long hours on the ergometer will pay off with enjoyable rows in the regatta season. We have plenty of ergos and they need to be used! On the water, ... More

Head of the Float 2018

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Head of the Float on a windy Saturday 1st December, competitors, umpires and club members. It takes about 3 months to prepare for our events and a very long day (we opened the club at 0615 on Saturday) to carry out final preparations and welcome all our visitors. The entry for Head of the Float was down on recent ... More
