Cancellation of Merseyside Regatta 29th April 2023

It is with great regret that the Committee of Liverpool Victoria Rowing Club has decided to cancel Merseyside Regatta, which was due to be held on Saturday 29th April 2023.

The regatta relies on our neighbours at Jenkins Shipping for use of their car park and quayside for car and trailer parking. Unfortunately, Jenkins Shipping are now storing higher value products than in the past and now require a formal contract to be in place to allow the rowing club to use the yard and quayside.

Although I have had positive discussions since December 2022 with the Operations Manager at Jenkins Shipping, his Compliance Team requires time to prepare and agree a formal contract. Given the uncertainty about getting the contract completed and the time remaining before the regatta date, the club Committee has decided that it would be wiser to cancel this year’s event.

I will continue to press for a contract, to enable us to hold Head of the Float in December 2023 and Merseyside Regatta in 2024.

I’m sorry that we won’t be able to host the regatta and visiting clubs at a regatta this Spring.
