Summer 2021 Newsletter

This strange year continues…we had hoped to be training and racing normally by now. However, regattas are being planned for but cancelled every week. With most of the North West under a ‘travel minimisation’ restriction, going to events is very difficult.

The club has managed to send crews to the National Schools Regatta but that was before the latest restrictions hit us.

We are still managing to get on the water to train and are still getting a lot of interest from schools, both in the Mersey Youth Rowing project and from Calday School. Other schools will join later this year and I hope will help to boost our junior section.

I do want to thank all club members who have stuck with us and continued to pay their subscriptions. Without your support there would be no club, simple as that. We’re hoping to have a Members’ event once restrictions are eased.

There are a number of regional Regattas still planned for the autumn, including Merseyside Regatta on 11th September. Let’s hope we can all look forward to that and a better end to the year than its beginning!
